2月18日 Learning to speak "Bemba" in Kitwe, ZambiaSo I just finished my third week and I am starting to settle into things
here. I just had my first Bemba test, which went ok, I blanked on a few things but what can you do. overall I did ok. we had one on one meetings with our language intstructors, and they told us how we did. I got like basically a B ish type grade. so that is phenominal for me. So Africa is hot. Also the storms here are really different, for one thing the thunder last about 4 x times as long. I live on the edge of the village and I can see all the storms coming in. Also it seems that alot of storm systems pass way to the south of us. I think moving east to west but I can see these huge storm coulds way off in th edistance because I live next a huge praire type thing. anyways I can see the lighting in the clouds and because it is so far off I don't even hear the thunder. So while that is going on there are stars all about my area. It looks really beautiful. The next few weeks will be basically training and what not. This next weekend though we are having a disco night. which I am pretty pyched about. We are getting trucked into town and taken out to a disco called cinderellas. It shoudl be fun. I am excited to go dancing. Other than that things are going well. I hope that Carter is well and that lost is still the greastest tv show ever, which I am sure it is. I am trying to resist all temptation of going to the website and getting alittle info. I would rather just wait till the second season comes out on dvd and have my parents send me the season and I will go to the provincial house. Ok by the way in each province there is a house for the trainees to go to and hold meetings and stay the night when they are passing through, and they usually have dvd players. so I will be waiting for that maybe next august 15 like when the last one came out. it is qute difficult for me. Lost and Carter. Anyways Africa is fun, I get to moutain bike in Africa so thats cool. My favorite Quotes
"erroneous, erroneous on all counts!" 'wedding crashers' "People helping people" wedding crashers "come in for the real thing" wedding crashers "Luck favors the prepared darling" edna moles 'the incredibles' "suits so fine they make frank sinatra look like a hobo." 'anchor Man' "I'm kind of a big deal" 'anchor man' J. Dan Buckland

2月3日 The Southern ProvinceO.K. so I was in the southern province of Zambia and had a great time! We stayed with a girl named Heather. She had a cat named Paris whom I might be mine shortly, because Heather is leaving
Zambia. So we will see, also when I finally get to my place I am going to have stupid chickens and a garden. Anyways I learned how to carry a bucket on my head, cook over a fire, clean your water, pit latrins, laundry and such. It was fun! The coolest thing is that everyone is so nice, like almost too much.
O.K. first lesson, bush mail: You are able to send a letter, like in school passing notes in class. You talk to someone in your village and if they are going to the next village you ask them to take that note with them. People are so honest for the most part here that (look at the map) you can send a bush note from northern province to southern. People will just keep passing it along, and since we are white we stick out, so it is easy to find us.
O.K. so I like to steal from little kids! We were walking to the boar hole ( a water pump) I was chasing these little kids around and they dropped their water buckets so I took them and ran off, then I chased them. You get the idea. I gave them back the buckets but it was still fun.
Also, hitch hiking is a safe way to travel so I am excited about that and I am not scared about Black Mambas any more, barefoot in the dark hahahaha.
O.K. I don't want to offend anyone but Paige B. the purple crocs are the best thing I have brought with me so far. We walk through mud and such. Anyways they are great, but I love everyone else also.
